Do you tell the docs what the prisoners did to land them in jail? On one hand it could prevent doctors from prescribing Viagra to pedophiles before their early release. On the other hand as a human being how hard would it be to continue preserving the life of individuals who commit horrific crimes.

Seriously though- you'll have edge cases where something slips through cracks. Unless this sort of thing happens frequently, I can't say I'd bag on French law practices.
Rolling over (i.e. surrendering) like a spent John, however, is a demonstrable (and deplorable) trend in their society.
In fact, it is just as deplorable as the trend in our society to kill anything that isn't nailed to a cross without an expensive license to exist.
Personally - I am notsomuch interested in their law practices in general, I am however fascinated by the ethical quandry faced by medical professionals treating the incarcerated.
& I really appreciate it when the anonymous sign a name to their comments...

This is a tough issue. How far does patient confidentiality go? Sadly, I don't have any answers... as I have wondered this myself.
In the end, we all look for someone to blame when it all goes to hell. This makes me never want to deal with a customer ever again in any situation possible. (Not good for income, alas.)
